Cellist Malin Mertens

Norwegian Malin Mertens studied at Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo under Kari Ravnan and Ole Eirik Ree, followed by a master's degree with Louisa Tuck with final examination in 2019. While studying, she was active as a musician and has performed with several professional ensembles and orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic, Norwegian Opera & Ballet, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. She was a founding member of the Virentia String Quartet and during her master's degree she played on a cello lent by Dextra Musica. After her master's degree she worked one year with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra as an orchestra academist. Since fall 2020 she is working as a full-time freelance cellist based in Oslo, Norway.

Malin Mertens studerte ved Barratt Due musikkinstitutt i Oslo under Kari Ravnan og Ole Eirik Ree, etterfulgt av en mastergrad med Louisa Tuck med avsluttende eksamen i 2019. Under studietiden var hun aktiv som musiker og har opptrådt med flere profesjonelle ensembler og orkestre, inkludert Oslo Filharmonien, Den Norske Opera & Ballet, Kringkastingsorkesteret og Trondheim Symfoniorkester. Hun var en av grunnleggerne av Virentia Strykekvartett, og i løpet av mastergraden spilte hun på en cello utlånt av Dextra Musica. Etter mastergraden jobbet hun ett år med Kungliga Filharmonikerna i Stockholm som orkesterakademist. Siden høsten 2020 jobber hun som frilanser på heltid med base i Oslo, Norge.
